Supremacy Wars as Western Leaders Undergo Political Realignments

ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi

Kenyan western leaders are battling for supremacy as preparations for 2022 general elections continues. With different political meetings being held in the Luhya community, it is now clear that the leaders have turned against each other.

It appears that Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, and their allies are against Wyclief Oparanya, Eugine Wamalwa, and other pro-handshake team members.

The pro-handshake Western leaders have locked Mudavadi and Wetangula out of their group.

During a consultative meeting held on Saturday, July 4 in Kitale, Amani National Congress (ANC) identified Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula as the most essential parties to the success of their community.

In the meeting, the two said that something needs to be done to make improvements and the sugar industry. They also claimed the executive have abandoned the fight against corruption.

“We noted with concern that the fight against corruption has been abandoned by the Executive and has now been replaced by loyalty pledges. We are seeing those who are alleged to have looted national coffers in mega corruption scandals being sanitized,” a statement from the party indicated.

They further said that leadership in the western region is completely occupied by the two NASA principals.

“As a community, we stand firmly behind our Principals, namely Hon Musalia Mudavadi and Hon Moses Wetangula. Whoever wants to deal with us as a community must come through Hon. Musalia Mudavadi and Hon Moses Wetangula,” they said.

President Uhuru held a meeting with a section of the western leaders who strongly support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi did not show up during the meeting.

Other pro-handshake leaders like Wyklief Oparanya, Eugene Wamalwa, and COTU secretary-general Francis Atwoli attended the meeting. President Uhuru assured the leaders of the revival of the sugar industry.

Francis Atwoli said that he will appoint a spokesperson to represent Mulembe people something that Moses Wetangula did not agree with. He said that it is not Francis’s job to appoint a spokesperson for them.

“Atwoli has no authority to choose any politician as the Mulembe people spokesperson. He is a failure himself. Let him stop chest thumping because nobody appointed him as our patron,” Wetangula said.

It seems the senator and Mudavadi have been thrown into the periphery as pro-handshake leaders plan to take over the Mulembe nation.
