Fight emerged on Sunday between two MCAs where nominated MCA Fred Musebe sustained a broken jaw.
The fight occurred during an event that was meant to open ward administrators’ offices that were built by the county government.
Two MCAs who are Moses Wetangula’s allies engaged in a fight with another group supporting Kandunyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and Ford Kenya Secretary General, Eseli Simiyu.
Bungoma County Governor, Wycliffe Wangamati, his Deputy, and other County officials attended the function.
Mr. Wangamati has not been in good relations with the County MCAs. This came after an attempted Ford Kenya coup that the governor was part of.
The MCAs impeached two of the governor’s CECs on accounts of abuse of office and corruption.
The issue arose when Mr. Musebe stood to address the residents and, in the process, accused the governor’s administration of failing to bring about development in Tongaren Constituency.
He also accused the Chief Officer of Sports and Gender, Caro Masete of turning the Tongaren MCAs against the governor by lying and spreading rumors against the MCAs to the governor.
“We Tongaren people are usually very keen before voting as we are straight forward people and if we will not have seen any development from you by 2022, we shall send you home parking,” Mr. Musebe said.
Before the MCA finished his speech, the microphone was snatched from him. It is at that time when the governor’s supporters manhandled Musebe. His supporters joined and fight emerged.
To calm the situation, police officers from Mbakalu and the governor came in and intervened.
MCA Musebe further asked the governor to ensure that a miller that was built by CDF funds is working and not neglected.
He said the governor should not boast of winning his position through his own money.
“We want you to ask (Senate Speaker) Lusaka. He had cash but it couldn’t help him get votes when residents rejected him. You will also learn the bitter way,” said the nominated MCA.
He also asked Mr. Wangamati to finish constructing Misiku road which Mr. Lusaka started when he was the governor of Bungoma County.
Mr. Musebe left the function and reported the matter at Mbakalu Police Station after the fight was over. He then proceeded to Lumakanda Hospital to seek treatment.
When the governor rose to give out his speech, he accused Senator Moses Wetangula of misleading Bungoma residents.
“We have completed ousting him as Ford Kenya party leader,” Mr. Wangamati said.
