Kenyans in the morning of Tuesday June 30 were sharp to react after Andrew Kibe’s unceremonious departure from Kiss FM.
They saw this as an opportunity for popular media personality Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o to return to the station after his departure in 2012.
While some seemed to welcome the news, others didn’t take it kindly.
“I think Kiss FM needs some intelligent mind,,,, Don’t think Jalango can match up!” wrote @RonoTheeDon on Twitter.
“Jalango started his radio career at kiss with Caroline mutoko for many years, what Makes you think he can’t fit there anymore? Infact I think he’s more experienced and with alot of content everywhere he goes he wins big.” wrote Brian Mwenga on Twitter.
Jalang’o lost his job at Milele FM on the back of a mass firing of Mediamax journalists on June 22 and has since been entertaining his funs in his YouTube channel that has since gained more than one hundred thousand subscribers.
He had already hinted at joining Radio Africa group but was not specific on the radio station that the CEO Patrick Quarco would post him.
Rumuours had it that the former Milele FM presenter was set to replace Peter Ogidi alias Gidi on his morning show at Radio Jambo. Gidi however downplayed the claims after featuring his co-host Ghost Mulee today morning after a short leave.
Jalang’o worked before at Kiss 100 alongside celebrated media personality Kalekye Mumo. He later quit for greener pastures making several moves within the radio industry.

“It’s been real watu Nduyas. I will miss all your nonsense in the morning @Kamene Goro @Kiss100kenya #kameneandkibe” he wrote on his Twitter account.
The move comes barely a year after him and Kamene Goro left the NRG breakfast show to join Kiss.
Kibe is known for his hard-hitting advice, especially towards women and he stated that he had a great run at the station and would now focus on his brand on digital platforms.
“On social media, I can put out whatever I want without limitations, things I couldn’t say on the radio,” he noted stating that digital was the next frontier in content creation.
According to data by GeoPoll, the breakfast show by Kamene and Kibe has been gaining audiences through the three months with 716,000 listeners in May 2020.
There Breakfast show was ranked sixth overall in the country and the second most popular English show after Classic FM’s Maina and King’ang’i.
The duo took over the Morning Kiss segment in September 2019 after leaving NRG Radio earlier in the year.
Kibe at the time promised to have an edgy show which would explore real conversations
“In as much as it is hard to [be] real on radio nowadays, expect real conversations from the two of us,” he was quoted at the time.
Media personalities have been among the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and it was witnessed that many big names in the industry have been lowered to nothing as their employers sent them home.
