New Majority leader and West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio has shaded Senator Murkomen who was ousted on Monday from the Jubilee senate leadership.
Taking to Twitter, Poghisio in no uncertain terms asked Murkomen to take his ouster in good faith, take a break and watch how the show will run under new hands.
At the same time, Poghisio thanked President Kenyatta for the appointment and vowed to be up to the task, especially at this time when the new coronavirus is wreaking havoc across the globe. Murkomen who has been serving as Jubilee’s Majority Leader in the senate was ousted on Monday alongside the Senate Majority Whip Susan Kihika.
Murkomen has since blocked Senator Samuel Poghisio on twitter.
Ms Kihika was replaced by Murang’a senator, Irungu Kang’ata who is allied to President Kenyatta. The two DP Ruto allies have been accused of sabotaging the president’s agenda in what insiders call gross insubordination. President Kenyatta had convened a meeting of Jubilee senators at State House on Monday where the duo was kicked out. The meeting came against the backdrop of a post-election coalition deal inked and deposited at the Registrar of Political parties between the Jubilee Party and KANU.This will now allow KANU to sit in house committees and attend Jubilee’s parliamentary.
Upon their ouster, their vehicles were recalled, their extra staff rendered jobless and extra security detail withdrawn.
Mbadi also noted that the ouster will affect their pensions which are rendered based on the ‘last basic pay’. The ouster has been met with criticism from Ruto allies who have accused President Kenyatta of running the party as if were private property. 22 Jubilee senators led by Majority Whip Susan Kihika claimed they were not invited to thesenate parliamentary group meeting at State House on Monday and opposed the ouster as unlawful. They also rejected the newly formed Kanu and Jubilee coalition saying it had not been passed the party’s NEC as required by law.
