(Deputy President William Ruto with his aides)
As Kenyans were busy following the proceedings of the requiem mass of the second President of the republic of Kenya Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi at Nyayo stadium, something uncommon happened.
The cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communications Joseph Wakaba Mucheru was denied entry into the VIP section.
His frustrations began when he was skipped by Rwanda President Paul Kagame whom he had gone to receive from the car. CS Mucheru had prepared himself to shake Kagame’s when the Rwandan head of state assumed. President Kagame then proceeded to greet Foreign Affairs PS Ambassodor Macharia Kamau and Deputy President William Ruto.
Dejected CS together with Ambassor Macharia then followed President Kagame to show him where to sit only for him to be shamelessly pushed away alongside a section of Kagame’s security details.
It’s after this scuffle that an aide to Deputy President William Ruto revealed what they are subjected to almost on a daily basis.
“This push and pull is part of the game almost daily.
Nothing big. It was just CS Mucheru’s day.
Had the media been blocked from shooting today, you would not have seen this.
But, most importantly, mambo ya kawaida haya (these are normal experiences)- A push and pull there.” Dennis Itumbi, an aide of DP William Ruto, wrote in a statement.
In November 27, 2019, Dennis Itumbi who was initially absorbed by Jubilee government in 2013 as Secretary of Digital, Innovation, and Diaspora Communications at State House, was seen being forcefully pushed out of the main Dias by President Uhuru’s security detail before engaging in a heated debate at a corner during the Building bridges initiative (BBI) launch.
For Itumbi to admit that, “Being pushed here and there is all in a days work” it means there is a lot more happening behind the scenes.
During the BBI launch that is November 27 last year at Bomas, Deputy President William Ruto was locked out of the holding room where President Kenyatta was meeting Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in full glare of the camera. As to why that happened, the public are yet to know.
A day before the launch, DP Ruto was reportedly frustrated in Statehouse as the MC, Mr Kinyua, ensured Ruto spoke before Raila Odinga.
In January 8 this year, Ruto was denied access to his official residence in Mombasa.
It was reported that “His personal clothes and other belongings had already been put in various rooms since it’s a home and, therefore, his personal effects were in place that morning. Around 4 pm, a call came from a senior government official to the government employees there that all the DP’s personal effects should be removed. It was a shocker,”
More tribulations facing the deputy President William Ruto have been reported in the past few weeks, months including the furing of Former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri who is Mr Ruto’s diehard supporter, ally, name it.
