“Our religion in politics is ODM and anyone who does not subscribe to this is not our friend,” those were the sentiments of ODM party leader Raila Odinga on the forthcoming by-elections following the nullification of August 8 elections results for various seats. He added that ODM party will fully support all the members whose elections were nullified. The recent nullification saw ODM party lose three seats; Homabay county governorship position, Ugenya constituency seat and that of Embakasi East constituency.
Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi on his part said that the coming by-election is a great chance to get more seats after reclaiming those that belonged to ODM party. “As Change movement we are more focused in ensuring that we get extra seats from this by election that is forthcoming- that of Turkana county women representative and Lamu county gubernatorial seats,” he said.
Speaking at the same event in Siaya, Mr Chris Karan, whose election was nullified by the High Court in Kisumu last week, said he is ready for election any time and asked residents to re-elect him; “I am ready to face my opponent any day that the electoral commission will announce,” he said.
Mr. Odinga delegated the duty of campaigns for Ugenya Constituency seat to Siaya county Governor Cornel Rasanga, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and area Members of county assembly.
