The ODM/NASA candidate for the position of Nairobi county women representative Esther Muthoni Passaris recently sent a message to members of the Kikuyu community in the run up to the 8th August general election.
Esther Passaris, popularly known as Mama Taa Mtaani for her initiative of lighting up the city through her Adopt-A-Light initiative, is a close associate of the NASA presidential candidate and ODM party leader Hon Raila Odinga. She joined ODM and contested for the position of Women representative in the party primaries in 2013. She decamped to Kenya National Congress (KNC) and vied for the same post but lost, though managing to garner 300,000 votes.
In 2016, she declared her interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat but later changed to Women representative and rejoined ODM party. She won in the party primaries and will be seeking to unseat the incumbent Rachael Shebesh.
Recent opinion polls put her way ahead of her opponents with a whooping 57%. The incumbent trails her at only 25% with 15% of the voters being undecided.
